In ordinea prezentarilor: sfecla rosie, turmeric (curcuma), spanac, spirulina, varza rosie.

For a week now I'm flirting with a detox diet, just like that, for the sake of spring. With this occasion, I remembered with what beautiful colors nature spoil us, so for my brother's birthday I chose to make a naturally colored rainbow cake.

Yes, all these beautiful colors can be obtained with products from the pantry!

In order of presentations: beetroot, turmeric (curcuma), spinach, spirulina, red cabbage.

About red cabbage I must say that it has personality disorders: is purple when is single and blue in a couple with sodium bicarbonate (baking powder). In other words, you will not get purple cake with red cabbage juice unless you don't have baking powder in the recipe. I played a little as lab chemistry in the kitchen and I found out that my cake will have only 5, not 6 colors, no matter how nice my potions would look like in the cups.

For aesthetic but also practical purposes, I used only the white part of the eggs, replacing the yolk with colored juices. The recipe for the classic yellow cake is here. The turmeric and spirulina were found as powder, so I mixed them with milk, the rest of the juices were obtained by squeezing. Each layer had a different taste, given by the used "dye". The filling is made from a blend of white chocolate, cheese and almond flavor. And about the whipped cream... carries the taste of childhood, being made from fermented sour cream, fat (mine was 30% fat), with a pinch of starch powder as a substitute for the grocery store whipped cream stabilizer. The colorful fluffy heads were made with turmeric and spirulina, because it were the only one powders in my whole rainbow colors.

The candies on top are the exception to the rule and the aesthetic defects were caused by some curious noses.
